A Cure for the Summertime Blues!

Ah, the joys of summer travel.   What's that saying: Minnesota has 9 months of winter and 3 months of road construction?  Add some kids to the mix and you can have a real issue...unless you stop by ABC & Toy Zone first to grab some surefire toys, games, and activities to keep everyone occupied as you make your way across the city, state, and country.

• Create-A-Scene Magnetic Play Sets from Smethport are fun and easy-to-pickup car toy.  Kids can play with scenes as diverse as construction sites, farms, playhouse, fairy worlds and more with magnets that actually stick to the play area!  And should your kids drop a few on the car floor, just wave the play site mat and the magnets quickly and easily get picked up.  (Trust me on this, I have a four-year-old.)

• The Travel Lite Brite is just like the Lite Brite of your childhood...but portable!  It runs on two C batteries, comes in three colors, and most importantly for the road: it has a storage drawer for the pegs.  Don't think that just is just a toy for little kids; the artist inside all of us can have fun with this toy!

• Melissa & Doug's Magnetic Picture Maker is another great travel toy.  Kids can make pictures based on the six double-sided picture cards...or they can even make their own unique designs on blank cards.  The magnetic wand that is attached to the board allows children to pull multicolored disks into fitted slots to make beautiful and creative mosaics.  The best part?  The whole thing is encased in a plastic covering, so there's no way the disks can spill out.
